APC, APGA, PDP warn INEC against indiscriminate cancellation of votes in Nasarawa

The governorship candidates of APC, APGA and PDP, gave the warning at separate press conferences, yesterday, in Lafia, the state capital.

APC’s Sule called on the INEC to avoid situation where materials would not arrive polling units early, saying: “It is my expectation that this election be conducted free and fair, so that the peoples choice will count.”

APGA’s Labaran Maku, a former minister of Information, expressed disappointment over the cancellation of over 157,000 in the state during the last elections by the electoral umpire, noting: “We are worried in the state because the latest antics by the opposition is to send thugs to areas they know we have strongholds to create trouble even where it is not warranted, so that the unit or ward can be cancelled.

“If nothing is done to end this evil by the INEC and the security agents, I am afraid voters may not fold their hands and allow such broad daylight rape to continue.”

Maku urged his supporters to be law abiding, but stand by their votes until they are counted and recorded.

Also speaking, the PDP governorship candidate, David Umbugadu, warned INEC must not repeat what happened in the last elections, where results in polling units and wards where the party was leading were cancelled.
