Enugu State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Mr. George Tagbo Ogara as the bonafide governorship candidate of the party in the state, stressing that claims by Senator Ayogu Eze, who joined the party a few days ago, are calculated attempts at deceiving and confusing voters.

The issue of APC governorship and National Assembly primaries in Enugu State has been a subject of disputations and petitions by factions. This has delayed submission of list of the party’s candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

But in a statement made available to The Guardian, one of the party’s factional state chairmen, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, said the attention of Enugu APC “has been drawn to several published claims, especially online, by a certain Ayogu Eze, purporting to be the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Progress (APC) in the state.”

Ogbodo said there was no way Eze could be the party’s candidate, having scored the least number of votes and ended up as last on the list of governorship aspirants.

He said one isolated and arranged nocturnal visit to the Presidency could not change the fact that “Ayogu Eze cannot win even a councillorship election in a credible process.”
