Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, charged members and supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to put aside their differences and ensure victory for the party, saying the party cannot afford to be in opposition again, following the damage All Progressives Congress (APC) government has done to the country.

Obaseki, who is Chairman, PDP Presidential Campaign Council in the state, gave the charge during the swearing in ceremony of members of Edo State Campaign Management Council, which is headed by Chief Osaro Idah in Benin City.

Obaseki, while urging members of PDP to be actively involved in the task of rescuing the country from the ruling APC, said: “No government has done the kind of damage APC government has done to this country. The debt profile of Nigeria is going to N60 trillion.”

Admonishing Nigerians to reject other political parties, Obaseki said the country needs PDP to come to its rescue.

He said: “Edo is ready to help rescue Nigeria. We are going to put in everything we have to ensure PDP wins the presidential election, as well as National Assembly and state assembly seats.

“I believe this should be an easy election for us if we can play right.

“The APC has destroyed the basis of this country. They have failed and threatened the existence of this country. We will unify this country and reduce the difference we have. We will rebuild the country to what God wants it to be.”

IN a similar development, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has said that everyone in Nigeria today believes that the ruling APC has made life more difficult than before for all, whether rich or poor.

Mutfwang stated it is under the current administration that Nigeria became one of the poverty capitals of the world, adding that the APC-led government has failed woefully in the basic responsibility of protecting its citizens and their property.

He spoke at the weekend, in Jos, on the occasion of PDP’s inauguration of Atiku-Okowa and Mutfwang-Piyo Campaign Council. According to him, the only part of the economy that has flourished is the kidnapping sector, which, today, generates billions of naira for key players and their protectors.

“This is our sad reality! This is why our people have been yearning for genuine change under an alternative platform. The PDP is that desired platform for the revival of hope that Nigeria and, indeed, Plateau State will be great again. I, therefore, call on those who are still undecided or have boarded their own ship to Tarshish to abdicate contributing to our success, to please come back to Nineveh! It is time to arise and join this liberation train. The Time for deliverance of our people is now! Let’s not waste this opportunity. The expectations of our people must not be dashed.
