The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State have rejected results of the gubernatorial election in which APC emerged winner, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The two major opposition parties in separate media briefings declared that last Saturday’s governorship election in the state was fraught with irregularities and was, therefore, unacceptable.

Gubernatorial candidate of APGA, Labaran Maku, said the figures announced by INEC were pre-election figures earlier written by those who manipulated the process.

“APGA rejects the result because it is fictitious, fraudulent and unacceptable. The result does not reflect the will of Nasarawa people.

“The election was marred by thump printing and stuffing of ballot boxes on private farms and residences of some government functionaries in preparation for votes allocation to parties including APGA.

“State institutions including the military and other security agents were coerced to cover up the criminal acts orchestrated by the APC.

Maku, a former Minister of Information, said other reasons for rejecting the result was due to multiple cancellation of votes at polling units and wards.

Also, PDP Chairman in the state, Francis Orogu, said the result of last Saturday’s election that declared APC’s governorship candidate, Abdullahi Sule winner was criminal and fraudulent.

“The Saturday governorship election in Nasarawa State was a broad day robbery by the APC. The robbery was done in collaboration with INEC, security agents and APC, which denied the people their choice who they massively voted for,” he stated.

Orogu pointed out that the party will certainly recover its mandate through legitimate means after due consultations with stakeholders.

He also lamented the release of some APC thugs who were arrested by security agents ballot box snatching and disruption of electoral activities in Karu Local Government Area.

The party called on all its supporters not to be discouraged over the ‘robbery but come out en masse during the rerun election on Saturday, March 23, to elect the party’s candidates.
