
The Action Peoples Party (APP) has praised the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for initiating the process for the state’s Local Government Elections.
RSIEC Chairman, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, in a letter to political party leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, and other stakeholders, invited them to a general meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the RSIEC Headquarters in Port Harcourt. The meeting will feature the unveiling of the election timetable and guidelines.
Reacting, APP National Chairman, Barr. Uche Nnadi, lauded RSIEC’s move, expressing confidence in the party’s chances.
He noted that APP previously held 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats in the state and remains confident of sweeping all 23 in the upcoming elections. He urged party members and Rivers residents to support APP and Governor Fubara’s administration.
The statement read, “We commend Rivers State Independant Electoral Commission over commencement of the state’s Local Government Election process. We reiterate our support for the decision of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to implement the Supreme Court’s verdict.

“Our party, which occupied 22 out of the 23 chairmanship seats in Rivers State, sees Fubara’s decision as statemanly and demonstration of a leader committed to the rule of law. We are optimistic that we will win all the 23 local government councils chairmanship in the state whenever the next election is conducted and urged its members, supporters and Rivers people to keep faith with the APP and Fubara’s administration.”
