ARCON set to hold advertising conference, stimulate industry intellectually
Arrangements have been concluded for the National Advertising Conference.
Tagged, The Marketing Communications Industry: Trends, Challenges and Prospects, the conference would be held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja from November 29 to December 1, 2022.
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) is hosting the conference, which is aimed at boosting marketing communications industry.
The conference begins tomorrow with a fireside chat featuring an advertising guru, a professor of Strategy Management and Dean Lagos Business School, Chris Ogbeche.
The opening ceremony holds on November 30, 2022 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja by 9:00 a.m. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the size of the Advertising industry – Stronger brands, stronger nation, and The State of Regulation in the Advertising Industry: The ARCON Law explained.
The second day will feature Understanding the new consumer from Gen Z to Alpha, creating brand experience in a digital world – the future of experiential marketing, from buying board space to buying mind space – Trends in OOH as well as building Nigeria’s new television audience measurement system.
Distinguished speakers at the conference include, Emmanuel Agu Group Marketing Director – Jotna, Oare Ojeikere a marketing professional, Rotimi Pedro, CEO Optima Mrdia Group, Kola Oyeyemi -CEO Axiom Intel, Emeka Okeke Group CEO Media Fuse Dentsu Nigeria, Dr. Tunji Olugbodi EVC/GCEO Verdant Zeal Communication, Adia Sowho CMO MTN, Prof. Samaila Mande and a host of other dignitaries.
Chief host of the conference and Director General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, said it is aimed at all professionals and businesses interested in best practices in the advertising industry.
“This largest gathering of stakeholders comes at a pivotal time where we, as an industry, believe that it will ultimately assist in finding certainty in uncertain times. We also believe that this year’s conference is going to be bigger, better and bolder, consolidating the most meaningful data available, which will ultimately assist in improving the industry as a whole,” he said.
According to Fadolapo, the conference will engage in intellectual discourse and conversations, aimed at repositioning the advertising industry for growth.
Speaking on the event, Chairman, Planning Committee and President, EXMAN, Tunji Adeyinka, said the advertising industry, over the years, has evolved and grown, and due to this, the industry has continued to face several challenges, which need to be fixed for the economy to improve.
The conference, which first held in 2019, brought together stakeholders, practitioners and businesses in the advertising ecosystem. That was what heralded the birth of the National Conference on Advertising in Nigeria.
According to him, the conference became necessary in the face of challenges confronting the industry. He explained further that globally and in Nigeria, the advertising industry is facing several challenges. One of them is the global economy that is not growing, as well as the collapse of purchasing power from consumers, leading to advertisers reducing the amount of money they spend.
The members of the Heads of Advertising Sectorial Group (HASG), which comprises EXMAN, Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Media Independent Practitioners of Nigeria (MIPAN) and Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), applauded ARCON for the initiative, which they said will go a long way to improve the industry for the better, because decisions reached at the conference will help the industry as the profession continues to evolve.
