The officers and men of 82 Mechanised Brigade of Nigerian Army, Sobi, Ilorin, have commenced a coordinated security operation in parts of Kwara State.

Security sources in Ilorin said the step taken by the Nigerian Army was to ward off any security breach in any part of the state.

According to sources, other security agencies, including the police and secret service, have also intensified intelligence-gathering efforts, in collaboration with state government, to foil any planned attack on the state.

“There are intelligence reports, which have pointed out the danger of attacks. So, the state government has mobilised security agencies to prevent potential security breaches. But it is also important for everyone to report suspicious activities or new faces in their environment.

“At this stage, everyone must work with government and security agencies to disallow evil elements from disrupting the peace of the state, and prevent them from launching attacks on government installations,” a source said.

The operation may involve heavy bombardments of hideouts of suspects with a warning to residents not to panic when such a security operation is being carried out.
