The Nigerian Armed Forces have confirmed achieving significant gains in counter-insurgency operations across the federation, neutralising over 4,900 criminals, arresting more than 34,900 suspects, and rescuing upwards of 9,500 civilians between January 2022 and March 2025.
The disclosure was made by Group Captain I.A. Bukar, representative of Defence Media Operations at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, while addressing members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, during a sensitisation campaign at the orientation camp.
Bukar commended the resilience of communities and emphasized the military’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace, and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
He provided an overview of the Armed Forces’ operations across the nation’s six geopolitical zones, highlighting key achievements.
Bukar reiterated that the Armed Forces remain partners in progress, not occupiers, and called for stronger community engagement, intelligence sharing, and sustained dialogue to ensure lasting peace.
He lauded traditional rulers, youth groups and civil society organisations for their continued support in fostering national security.
Some of the corp members commended the military’s resilience and vowed to uphold patriotism in their places of primary assignments.
