In commemoration of the 91st posthumous birthday of late Igbo leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Finland-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa has said that nothing on earth can stop the actualisation of Biafra independence.

Ekpa stated this in a statement on Monday in reaction to a report by an international media titled ‘Biafra’s March towards Independence gains momentum’.

Ojukwu born on November 4, 1933 – 26 November 2011, was a Nigerian military officer and politician who served as President of the Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970 during the Nigerian Civil War.

He previously served as military governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria, which he declared as the independent state of Biafra.

But Nigeria invaded Biafra, sparking the Nigerian Civil War. He died in 2011 at the age of 78 in London, England.

His body was returned to Nigeria, where Former president Goodluck Jonathan arranged a state funeral.

He was buried with full military honours, including a 21-gun salute from the Nigerian Army, and thousands of people attended his funeral.

According to Ekpa, the international recognition of the Biafra agitation has shown the level of sacrifices by the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, and all Biafrans worldwide.

He added that the Biafra Convention for November 29 and December 2 2024 will solidify the Declaration of Biafra Independence.

“I feel fulfilled knowing that our Biafra aspiration is coming to life with international recognition everywhere,” he said.

“This is a testament to the sacrifice of BRGIE and the resolve of every Biafran worldwide.

“Our coming convention will solidify Biafra independence. Biafra is here to stay; the Nigerian government cannot stop it. No forces on earth can prevent Biafra from happening.”
