Ateke Tom crowned Amanyanabo of Okochiri

Ex-militant leader in the Niger Delta, Ateke Tom, has been crowned as the Amanyanabo of Okochiri community in Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Ex-militant leader in the Niger Delta, Ateke Tom, has been crowned as the Amanyanabo of Okochiri community in Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Ateke, one of the foremost†commanders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), is said to be the first Amanyanabo of his native Okochiri community.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, state officials, as well as†hundreds of well wishers including chiefs from†Okrika, Ogoloma, Ibaka, Ogbogbo, Ogu, Abuloma, Isaka, Bolo, and Ele, were in Okochiri, yesterday, to witness Atekeís formal installation.

Wike, who received a rousing ovation at the ceremony,†tasked Ateke, credited for peace in Okrika, in recent times, not to relent in ensuring that the situation is sustained, promising that his administration would continue his developmental projects.
