Nsukka Professionals Association, NPA, a non-partisan apex association of successful professionals of Nsukka extraction in Lagos, at the weekend urged the senator representing their area, Chief Okey Ezea, to work harder and attract more government projects to the long-suffering people of the zone. They also appealed to him to find an immediate solution to the raging insecurity in the area.
The President of the association, Chief Charles Nwodo, who made the appeal when the senator visited members of the association in Lagos to brief them on his legislative activities, advised the senator to interact more with the constituents at the grassroots to ensure that his support base endures in the build-up to 2027. According to him, “We also advised the senator to cultivate common grounds with the government at Enugu State and the Federal Government at Abuja, across party lines, so as to attract more of the desired dividends of democracy for Nsukka people.”
“While we thank you for the visit, we will also praise you for staying true to your principles by remaining in the party that brought you to office. That is why we are urging you to intensify efforts by working harder than your predecessors to attract more government projects to the long-suffering people of Nsukka and to find effective solutions to the protracted insecurity problems in Nsukka zone.”
In his speech, Senator Ezea announced that through his efforts, the Makurdi – Otukpo – Ninth Mile federal highway is being reconstructed, solar-powered boreholes have been provided to all the local government areas in Nsukka zone, employment opportunities have been attracted, and federal education and health facilities in Nsukka zone are receiving special intervention by the Federal Government.
He informed the NPA members, including prominent members of the Labour Party in his entourage such as Hon. Harrison Ogara, Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Gen. Chris Eze (Rtd), Hon. Chief Matthias Omeh, and others, that he intends to remain in the Labour Party to continue his legislative activism in furtherance of the greater good of the people of Nsukka.
