The Mazi Organisation has congratulated women of Imo State on the occasion of the 2025 August Meeting, while announcing a ₦100 million donation to support grassroots women’s groups across the state.
In a statement issued by its Director General, Chief Henry Onwukwe (Apitti), the group paid tribute to the “remarkable resilience and development efforts” of Imo women, describing them as “dependable pillars of the home” and vital contributors to community growth.
The donation, the organisation said, will be distributed among 100 women-led associations, including community-based and faith-driven groups. It marks one of the largest single private sector interventions targeting women’s collectives in the state in recent years.
The group said the intervention is part of the ongoing philanthropic initiatives of its founder, Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, widely known as Mazi Gburugburu.
“This gesture underscores our commitment to empowering Imo women and fostering community development,” the statement read. “We will, in due course, release the full list of beneficiaries of this support.”
The annual August Meeting is a socio-cultural gathering of Igbo women, traditionally held in August when women from across the country and the diaspora return to their hometowns to engage in community discussions, fundraisers, and initiatives for local development.
While reaffirming its readiness to work with women’s groups to drive sustainable progress in Imo, the Mazi Organisation urged delegates to prioritise unity and pragmatic action in their deliberations.
The statement concluded with prayers for safe travels and a renewed commitment to a more prosperous Imo State.
