Automotive firm, BBA Motors, has unveiled the Zeekr 9X luxury electric Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Nigeria, marking the vehicle’s first appearance in the African market and highlighting growing interest in premium electric mobility in the country.

The unveiling took place at the company’s newly opened flagship showroom in Lagos, where business leaders, industry stakeholders and other representatives gathered to witness the debut of the all-electric model.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of BBA Motors, Rebecca Jia, said the company’s core mission was to bring world-class Chinese automotive products and thoughtful localised services to local users.

She emphasised that the opening of the showroom was a brand-new starting point for its brand upgrade, stressing that the exclusive debut and first delivery of the Zeekr 9X is a key move for BBA Motors to lay out the high-end new energy vehicle track and complete its product matrix.

She said: “Moving forward, we will continue to provide Nigerian residents with a full range of options from daily commuter models to high-end luxury vehicles and deliver customised end-to-end services including fleet procurement, leasing, maintenance for corporate clients and ride-hailing platforms, striving to become the most trusted comprehensive service provider for Chinese automotive brands in the Nigerian market.”

The event also featured the delivery of the first Zeekr 9X in Nigeria to music star D’banj, signalling the brand’s official entry into the country’s high-end electric vehicle segment.

BBA Motors, which distributes Chinese automotive brands in Nigeria, said the launch reflects expanding automotive collaboration between Africa and Asia as well as increasing demand for advanced mobility solutions in the region.

The Zeekr 9X is a flagship electric SUV developed with technology focused on performance, intelligent driving support, and luxury comfort.

The vehicle is equipped with a high-capacity battery capable of delivering up to about 560 kilometres of electric range on a full charge, while fast-charging technology allows the battery to recharge from 30 to 80 per cent in less than 30 minutes.

According to product specialists at the unveiling, the model has been adapted to suit African road and climate conditions.

It features an all-wheel-drive dual-motor system producing more than 300 kilowatts of power, enabling acceleration from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in just over four seconds.

The SUV also incorporates advanced driver assistance technology, including adaptive cruise control, lane-centring functions, panoramic imaging and automated parking support designed to enhance safety and reduce driver fatigue.

BBA Motors said the Lagos showroom would serve as a hub for vehicle sales, rental services, fleet operations, and after-sales support as the company expands its presence in the Nigerian automotive sector.
