An elder statesman and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Joseph Kennedy Waku has described the damages caused to oil installations in the Niger Delta by avengers as the most burning issues in the country, urging the Federal Government to treat the perpetrators as criminals if caught.

In an interview with The Guardian yesterday in Makurdi, Waku said, “Agitations should have a clear vision rather than being criminal. It is only when the agitations are ignored that you can resort to any other mechanism.”

He advised the group to hold their political leaders responsible for failing to develop their areas, noting that after all, they get 30 per cent derivation from federal government, and are given the Ministry for Niger Delta as well as Niger Delta Development Corporation (NDDC) headed by their leaders who are saddle with the responsible of developing their areas.

On the agitations by the Movement For Actualization of Sovereign a State of Biafera, MASSOB, the elder statesman described their activities as a treasonable affair masterminded by Political job seekers who are all out to create unnecessary tension in the country.
