Eight months after his demise, the remains of late former Senate President Joseph Wayas are yet to be interred.

The Cross River indigene died last November in London, United Kingdom.

An All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and social critic, Goddie Akpama, in a statement, had accused the Ben Ayade-led administration of “dancing on the corpse of Dr. Joseph Wayas.”

Alleging that “the Second Republic Senate President has been abandoned in death by his fellow Agba man (the governor), Akpama accused Ayade of “aspiring to go back to the Senate and become Senate President.”

He stated: “Yes, it is within Ayade’s right to run for Senate, but I think he should have done that after using his position to ensure that the late Dr. Wayas was given a state burial and his remains and spirit rested properly as it is done the world over for institutions as the late leader of men and women.”

Rather, what Ayade has done amounts to dancing on the corpse and spirit of Dr. Wayas, who passed on since November 2021.”

The social critic also accused the governor of abandoning the body of Prof. Ukandi Damachi, an Obudu son, and famous diplomat.
