Social Democratic Party (SDP)?Presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has proposed a fundamental restructuring of Nigerian governance, urging that Chapter 2 of the 1999 Constitution be transitioned from ornamental language into the primary operating compass for government policies, budgets, and programs.

Unveiling the proposal within his 2027–2031 governance blueprint, titled Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity, Adebayo positions the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy at the core of his proposed administration.

Under the blueprint, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) would be mandated to tie major programs directly to specific constitutional objectives and report measurable outcomes.

The framework seeks to establish results-based governance anchored on Section 13 of the Constitution, which requires all arms of government to conform to and apply Chapter II.

The proposal asserts that government success should no longer be gauged by project announcements, but by tangible improvements in citizens’ daily lives.

According to him practical indicators would include security, food, healthcare, education, housing, employment, water, energy, transportation, justice, and digital access.

By placing constitutional obligations at the center of the political discourse leading up to the 2027 elections, the blueprint challenges the electorate to evaluate future leadership strictly through measurable progress in public welfare and safety.

“Government performance should not be measured by the number of projects announced or commissioned, but by what Nigerians actually experience in their daily lives.

“Security, food, healthcare, education, housing, employment, water, energy, transportation, justice and digital access, should become practical indicators for judging whether the government is succeeding.

“Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity further identifies the security and welfare of the people as the primary purpose of government, alongside national integration, social justice, economic self-reliance, human dignity, education, environmental protection and accountability.”
