Niger State Governor, Muhammad Umaru Bago, has said that the revival of Warri Refinery by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after years of being inactive has proven that the President is willing to change the narrative in the petroleum downstream sector, bring Nigeria back to its glory days and restore the pride of the nation.

The Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the development as unprecedented and a giant step towards restoring the hope of Nigerians through local production and refining of crude.

According to Bago, the Warri Refinery, which operates at 60 per cent capacity and produces 125,000 barrels per day, will complement the Port Harcourt Refinery, revived in November and now fully operational, saying it is a testament to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda to better the lives of Nigerians as a major oil-producing nation.

The governor also acknowledged the efforts of the management of NNPC Ltd, under the leadership of Mele Kyari, for working round the clock to ensure the mandate set out by the President was achieved, while also hoping that the Kaduna Refinery and the 150,000 bpd capacity refinery in Port Harcourt would soon be fully operational as well.

Bago noted that the successful re-opening of the refineries was making a significant impact and inspiring confidence among citizens.

He added: “It is on record that the Warri refinery is resuming operations under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, who is also instrumental to the reviving of the Port Harcourt Refinery with a production capacity of 60,000 barrels per day.”
