Armed bandits have kidnapped seven persons after attacking a community in Barkallahu, Igabi Council of Kaduna State, including five member of the same family.

The bandits, it was gathered, invaded the community about 1:30am yesterday and shot indiscriminately as they went from house to house to pick their victims.

An inhabitant of the community, Abdulsalam Haruna, who spoke to newsmen, disclosed that the gunmen went away with his wife and four children, two of who are students of the Federal University, Malunfashi in Katsina State.

He stated that the invaders left with two of his neighbour’s children and attacked two other houses in the area, including that of a retired director in the Kaduna State Ministry of Education, but they did not kidnap anybody or carry anything.

“The incident happened about 1:30am when they broke my gate and came into my compound. They broke the door to my house and ordered everybody to follow them.

“They also attacked my neighbour and went away with two of his children.”

“We alerted the Police, but by the time they arrived, the bandits had escaped with the victims,” Haruna said.

The Kaduna State Police Command was yet to confirm the incident, as the Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached and had not replied to to a text message sent to his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
