The People of Bashar Community Development Association (BACODA) in Wase Local Council of Plateau State have appealed to the state government to rescind its earlier decision directing the Rekna of Bashar, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Isa, to step aside forthwith pending investigation of the process that ushered him to the throne.

Government’s decision last month was informed by some concerned people of the chiefdom who alleged some misgivings in the selection process at the death of his predecessor, Adamu Idris.
BACODA viewed the suspension as an “outright illegality as his selection had been conducted and sealed since 2022.”Addressing reporters at the weekend in Jos, BACODA spokesman, Inusa Ali, insisted that the selection process was conducted in accordance with statutory requirements recommendations from Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, Da Jacob Gyang Buba. He expressed concern over the government’s decision to review the entire exercise when not being challenged in any court.
“It is apparent from the report that there was absolute compliance with the necessary provision of the law regulating the selection of the Rekna of Bashar in 2022.
“Upon the completion and submission of the report of the selection by the five-man committee constituted by the selection process , Barrister Simon Bako Lalong , the former executive governor of Plateau State, in the exercise of his powers , appointed Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Isa as the new Rekna of Bashar.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Rekna of Bashar received his appointment letter on the 5th of January, 2023 and was installed and presented with the second class staff of office by the executive governor on the 23rd February, 2023.”
