Bauchi Govt. promises to promote small/medium enterprises

The Bauchi Government says it is willing to partner relevant organisations in promoting small and medium scale businesses in the State

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Mohammed Gokaru, stated this at one day workshop by Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), in Bauchi on Wednesday.

He said the government had received letters from the Bank of industry (BoI), and Jaiz Bank expressing willingness to empower entrepreneurs in the state.

He added that the government was making necessary plans and arrangements to collaborate with SMEDAN to improve entrepreneurship in the state.

Gokaru urged the participants to use the opportunity to support the present administration’s policy change and thanked SMEDAN for organising the workshop.

The Zonal Coordinator of SMEDAN in the state, Alhaji Isa Mohammed, said the workshop was targeted at improving the practical aspects of small and medium scale development as well as manpower/ capacity building.

“The one-day workshop for small and medium entrepreneurs is aimed at exposing the participants to ways of identifying profitable business ventures.’’

“The programme will also give the participants the opportunity to come up with bankable business plans to ease the process of accessing loans from banks”, he said.

He added that it was an annual event to promote Federal Government’s policy of training business owners to enhance their businesses.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that participants were drawn from all the Senatorial Districts in the state,

NAN also reports that 50 persons took part in the workshop.
