Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Wednesday, urged police cadets who hail from the state to be good ambassadors and change agents anywhere they find themselves.
Makinde made the call while receiving the 39 Oyo State Cadets of Regular Course 7 Contingent of the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano ahead of their passing-out parade who paid him a visit at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan.
Present at the visit were the Executive Adviser to the Governor on the Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, CP Ayodele Sonubi (rtd); the Special Adviser on Security Matters, CP Fatai Owoseni (rtd); the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi; the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; the State Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, and others.
Makinde, who charged the Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on professionalism, dedication to duties, and loyalty, went down memory lane on how he met Owoseni, the Executive Adviser on Security Matters, Sunday Odunkoya [rtd], and Ayodele Sonubi who he said they displayed those traits while in service.
Makinde, therefore, charged them to exhibit professionalism, and loyalty and be good ambassadors of the state.
The governor said: “You have chosen this career path to be awake while others are sleeping and face danger for the security of the country.
“You have responsibility on your shoulders. I pray you to make a success out of the career you have chosen. I will monitor your career progress. I have worked with great minds who showed professionalism, dedication, and loyalty. You must show professionalism, dedication, and loyalty.
”Be good ambassadors of the state and change agents anywhere you find yourselves.”
The governor thanked his security aides, the Commissioner of Police, and other security agencies in the state for keeping the state safe.

In his remarks, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Oluwole Adenola, who led the cadets to the governor, said the visit was a morale booster for them.
Adenola said: ”They are here for the mandatory internship which is for them to have an idea of what practical policing is all about. They are 39 in number.
“This is the highest number the state has ever contributed to the policing of the county in a single course. It means a lot to them to sit with the governor. I was so elated when the governor accepted us to come for the visit. It is my pleasure to present these officers to you.”
Earlier, Oluwadamilola Adeniran who spoke on behalf of the cadets, said they had been good ambassadors of the state during their stay at the Nigerian Police Academy.
Adeniran, who lauded the strides of Makinde in the state, also solicited the support of the governor for the cadets.
