Be security-conscious, Olubadan tells Nigerians

Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), has urged Nigerians to be more security-conscious in their daily activities, warning that the prevailing security challenges in the country require collective vigilance and responsible conduct.

The monarch gave the admonition while receiving Khalifa Sheikh Habeebullahi Muhyideen Ajani Bello, successor to the late world-renowned Islamic preacher, Alhaji Muideen Bello, at his palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

The warning was contained in a press release issued on Monday and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga.

Oba Ladoja noted that, like many other countries worldwide, Nigeria is currently confronted with security challenges that demand heightened awareness and caution from citizens.

He said, “Like many other countries of the world, Nigeria is faced with security challenges. Consequently, we should all be security-conscious of our movement and daily activities.”

The paramount ruler stressed that safety should be a priority for all Nigerians, urging residents to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies in safeguarding their communities.

Reflecting on his ascension to the throne, Oba Ladoja said his emergence as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland was divinely ordained.

“God knows the end right from the beginning, and it has pleased Him to enthrone me as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland,” the monarch said.

He admonished Sheikh Habeebullahi Muhyideen Ajani Bello and his followers to continue the good works and legacy of his late father, Alhaji Muideen Bello, while cautioning against distractions and diversionary influences.

According to the Olubadan, nothing in life is static, and it is important for leaders and followers alike to remain steadfast in the pursuit of righteousness, peace and service to humanity.

Earlier in his address, Sheikh Habeebullahi Muhyideen Ajani Bello expressed gratitude to the Olubadan for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.

He described the monarch as a symbol of resilience, tolerance and admirable leadership, urging him to continue to lead Ibadanland with wisdom and compassion.

The Islamic cleric said he was confident that Oba Ladoja’s enthronement was ordained by God, adding that the monarch’s reign would usher in peace, stability and progress for Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.

Sheikh Habeebullahi Bello also offered prayers for the Olubadan, asking Almighty God to endow him with wisdom, sound health, victory over his enemies, and longevity.

“May Almighty Allah grant Your Imperial Majesty wisdom, good health, victory over your enemies and long life to continue to serve humanity,” he prayed.

The courtesy visit was attended by prominent chiefs and community leaders, including the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba (Barr.) Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, Mogaji Adepo Gbadeyanka and other members of the Olubadan-in-Council.

The palace said the visit further underscored the cordial relationship between traditional institutions and religious leaders in promoting peace, unity and social harmony in Ibadanland.

The Olubadan reiterated his commitment to the peace and security of his domain, urging residents to remain law-abiding and supportive of efforts to build a safer society.
