The Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Bishop John Adaji has described the continuous attack on the people of Kogi East senatorial district by herdsmen as an attempt to disenfranchise them.

He said this while addressing the congregation at the final round of this year’s cathedraticum at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Ugwolawo, nothing that many have been killed and others have become refugees in their own state.

According to him, some residents couldn’t register during voters’ registration, because they have fled their homes.

The Bishop, who has severally criticised the state government for not paying salaries, said herdsmen attack is worse than the evil of non-payment of salaries.

He said he was perturbed by Igala people’s unusual silence, as they seem to have resigned to fate. He urged them not to keep mute over the killings to prevent the crisis from escalating.
