The Caretaker Chairman of Gubio local council in Borno State, Mr. Zanna Modu has commended the military and Governor Kashim Shettima for their efforts in liberating 20 communities in the state from Boko Haram terrorists.

Modu spoke yesterday while laying the foundation stone of 500 housing units and public structures destroyed by insurgents in Gubio.

He said it was now safe for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in camps in Maiduguri to return to their liberated communities.

“With several communities in Gubio town and environs liberated, the ongoing reconstruction work on 500 residential houses and public structures destroyed by insurgents is necessary. This is to provide decent shelter for the returning IDPs to enable them to start their farming profession,” he said.
