Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has disbursed N1 billion for the upgrade of 10 schools in Maiduguri metropolis.
Tagged ‘Schools Improvement Grants (SIG)’, the project is a brainchild of the World Bank for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
Presenting the cheques in Maiduguri, at the weekend, to the Principal of Yerwa Girls Secondary School, Falmata Mustapha, the governor disclosed that five utility vehicles were presented to state’s implementation office unit of the learning and empowerment initiatives.
Zulum, represented by Musa Kubo, urged Mustapha to make good use of the grants on the targeted 10 schools for upgrade.
He, therefore, called on teachers to take advantage of AGILE to improve the education sector affected by the over a decade Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
