Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have arrested a bride for poisoning food served to guests at her wedding reception in the Jahun Local Government Area of the state.

The command reported that the groom became critically ill while a guest at the wedding died as a result of the food.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Shi’isu Adam, two suspects in connection with the alleged food poisoning have been arrested.

He gave the identity of the suspects as the bride and her friend, without revealing their names.

According to Adams, both of them are in custody and are being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department of the command.

“We will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served,” he said.

He concluded that the wedding attendants who consumed the poisoned food had been discharged from the hospital, except for the deceased.
