British Airways has canceled flights from Nigeria to London due to the fire incident at the London Heathrow Airport.
This was disclosed by the Director, National Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, who cited a report from the airline.
On its website, British Airways said, “Due to a power outage in the London Heathrow area, London Heathrow Airport is currently closed. As a result, customers due to travel from Heathrow on Friday are advised not to travel to the airport until further notice. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide more information as soon as we have further details.”
In a terse statement on X, Achimugu said the Abuja-London passengers of British Airways have been taken to a hotel, adding that necessary care is being provided to all passengers.
He also stated that the airline has sent messages to all passengers on the 4pm flight operating from Lagos so that they don’t bother going to the airport.
