A POLITICAL analyst and lawyer, Ken Atsuwette, has described the issues surrounding budget switching in the National Assembly as a total embarrassment to the country, stressing it is over heating the polity.
Atsuwette in an interview with The Guardian also lamented that the economy is fast declining, and requires speedy deliberation and passage of the budget to remove it from a standstill position, yet members of the National Assembly are not concerned.
According to Atsuwette, “The budget issue is an internal challenge; it is a mediocre issue that the National Assembly and the Presidency, maybe the special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters should have settled without bringing it to the public.
He added: “The issue is overheating the polity and it is taking unnecessary time. The economy is fast declining, the NASS members should urgently settle the matter, deliberate on the budget and pass it because the economy cannot continue to remain at a standstill. The budget needs urgent passage to enable the economy soar again.”
