Despite the prolonged absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed satisfaction that the ship of the nation was sailing in the right direction.

This, it believed was due to the fact that the president handed over the reins of governance to a competent team led by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

The APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who spoke yesterday at the national secretariat of the party during a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) with the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), however, accused the social media of plot to destabilise the polity through various negative reports.

The NWC meeting with APC serving governors, according to him was part of the ongoing consultations with critical stakeholders of the party, ahead of its mid-tem national convention scheduled for April 29.

Chief Oyegun said: “What makes me happy in spite of these negative speculations and attempt to destabilize the polity is that, thanks to his respect for due process and the constitution of this nation has left a structure that is functioning very effectively.”

He lamented the growing negative narrative about the party’sperformance. He charged governors to device means to salvage the situation. The meeting agreed on April 29 date for the convention, which is non-elective.
