President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday met Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mela Kyari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Details of the meeting were not disclosed, as Kyari declined comments when he departed the State House shortly after the closed door with President Buhari.

The meeting yesterday is coming on the heels of the escalating tension between the United States and Iran following last week’s killing of an Iranian commander and fear of reprisals on America’s military base in Iraq.

Like Kyari, Sylva declined comments on the meeting.

Global benchmark for Brent Crude gained 2.4 per cent to reach $70.24 per barrel on Monday the first time prices have increased to that level in over seven months.
