Buhari nominates Adesina for second term at AfDB

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina for a second term in office as president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).Adesina, who was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has presided over the continent’s largest multilateral institution with accelerated activities across the region.

Reacting, the technocrat stated: “I wish to immensely thank and appreciate President Buhari for nominating me for a second term as president of the African Development Bank and for being such a wonderful champion and supporter of my re-election.”Adesina’s skills for rural development and agriculture through reforms that aided subsidy and distribution of fertilisers to farmers in Nigeria, under the Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES), have raised the bar on the continent.
