President Muhammadu Buhari and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate in the February 23 polls, Peter Obi, have congratulated Boris Johnson on his emergence as United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister.

In a goodwill message, the president praised the British democratic model, describing it as one of the most successful systems in the world that had survived the test of time.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja, Obi who described Johnson as “Afro-centric”, expressed the hope that more attention would be given to issues affecting Africa.

He believed the new premier would strengthen ties between Britain and the African continent, especially Nigeria.
