The son of the late President, Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, on behalf of his family, has expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for giving his late father a befitting burial.
Speaking at the Federal Executive Meeting on Thursday, Yusuf, who attended the session alongside his siblings, thanked lauded wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, for all their support and demonstration of empathy towards the entire Buhari family during their trying period.
He also thanked the leadership of the National Assembly, the Service Chiefs and members of the Federal Executive Council for the honour accorded to his father.
“On behalf of Buhari family, I want to sincerely extend our deepest appreciation to Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and His wife, Nana Shettima, for the outstanding support given to the family.
“It has been shown that he was regarded as more than just a politician, but a father and a friend.
“All members of the Federal Executive Council, the Senate President, as well as the Speaker House of Representatives.
“Let me specially and specifically acknowledge the Chief of Defence Staff, service Chief, other security and law Enforcement Agencies, as well as the military for their esprit de corps and befitting military burial given to our late father
“We thank all members of the diplomatic body, religious body, press, friends and family and all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora for their numerous calls, messages, their prayers and condolence visits towards our departed father. Your visit, calls and prayers symbolised a great honour to the memory of our late father, and we are sincerely grateful for all the support and solidarity offered to the family.

President Bola Tinubu led a solemn and historic special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82.
The commemorative meeting, held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was attended by an expanded assembly of Nigeria’s top political leaders, judicial officials, cabinet members, and family of the late leader, marking the first such session under Tinubu’s administration.
Originally slated for Tuesday, the FEC tribute was rescheduled to allow the President and other dignitaries to attend Buhari’s burial rites in Daura, Katsina State.
