The scheduled visit of President Muhammadu Buhari, to Imo State on Tuesday, May 21, to inaugurate some landmark projects executed by Governor Rochas Okorocha has been postponed indefinitely.

A statement on Tuesday signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor Sam Onwuemeodo said the development was a sequel to the trip made by the president to Saudi Arabia on pilgrimage.

The statement assured that a new date would be communicated to the people of the state.

“We humbly wish to inform the general public and Imo people in particular that His Excellency, the president and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, has not returned from Saudi Arabia where he is at the moment with other Muslims from all parts of the world on pilgrimage,” Onwuemedo said.

“Against the backdrop of this development, the scheduled visit of the president to Imo State for the Commissioning of some key projects of Governor Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, has been postponed.

“A new date for the visit will also be made public in due course, once the president comes back from Saudi Arabia.

“We ask for understanding and also regret the inconvenience this development might have thrown up.

“The Governor and the good people of Imo state heartily wish Mr President a hitch-free trip back to Nigeria.” the statement concludes.
