Cab driver commits suicide over alleged wife’s infidelity

A Father of six, identified as Felix Edore, has reportedly committed suicide over alleged infidelity by his wife of 16 years. It was gathered the incident occurred late Friday in Sapele, Delta State.

According to sources, Edore, a cab driver, who shuttles between neighbouring Abraka and Eku communities had recently bought a fairly-used car for his transport business. He was said to have drink Sniper, a poisonous pesticide, in his car after discovering that his wife was having extra-marital affairs.

He was reportedly rushed to a private clinic in the Amukpe area of Sapele where doctors tried to save his life until he died early hours of Saturday. A resident of the area said Edore had showed no sign of being suicidal.

A neighbour, who preferred to be anonymous, said: “He came home that evening and was as usual very lively. He brought his car and was complaining about the radiator. It was when he left and came back that we learnt he had drank Sniper. I think he must have taken the insecticide inside the car”.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, could not confirm the incident, saying: “The DPO said they did not report the incident to the station.”
