
The bodies of three medical students involved in the Marina Resort boat mishap in Calabar on Saturday have been discovered, according to the Cross River State Police Command.
The bodies recovered included two males and one female.
The state Commissioner of Police, Gyogon Grimah, disclosed this on Monday in Calabar.
Grimah said the bodies of the missing students were recovered by the locals with the help of the marine police.
The Commissioner of Police added that the bodies have been taken to the mortuary, where they will be preserved until the state government decides on what to do next.
The Guardian report that some medical students had, on Saturday, embarked on a boat cruise organised by Marina Resort, as part of social activities to mark their annual health week in Calabar, but the boat had an accident.
Eleven people were rescued, while the bodies of the three missing students were recovered on Monday.
Following the incident, Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu ordered an investigation into the cruise ship mishap and charged security, rescue agencies and local villagers involved in the operations, to find the missing students and reunite them with their families.
