Call Wike to order before it is too late, George tells Tinubu

Six Adamawa Assembly members dump PDP

FORMER Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, has declared that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is no longer a member of the party, urging President Bola Tinubu to rein in the minister before his actions damage the administration.
George, in a statement yesterday, noted that Wike was expelled from the PDP during the party’s convention in Ibadan last November, insisting that the expulsion remains valid.

“He was expelled during our convention in Ibadan last November. He was not the only one. Other characters were expelled with him. Their expulsion stands as of today. So, it doesn’t make any sense for him to be using federal government agents, from Abuja to Rivers, intimidating Nigerians, and claiming to be speaking on behalf of a faction of the PDP. He is no longer our member,” George said.
The PDP chieftain accused the Presidency, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the judiciary of enabling what he described as Wike’s “shenanigans,” and warned that the President risks bearing the consequences if the situation spirals out of control.
According to George, the FCT minister’s conduct during Saturday’s election in Abuja was “a complete embarrassment” to Nigerians. He referenced a viral video in which Wike was allegedly addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a polling unit and boasting that after voting, they should “leave the rest” to him.

“It is absolutely impossible for Wike to be behaving like a power-drunk fellow this way without the backing of the President. What Tinubu needs to realise is that this is his administration till 2027, not Wike’s. That Tinubu continues to allow Wike to behave this way shows the President is not a good student of history,” he said.
Drawing parallels with Nigeria’s First Republic, George warned that political actors who destabilised previous democratic dispensations eventually faded into obscurity, while the leaders who gave them cover were remembered for the wrong reasons.
In another viral clip cited by George, security agents were allegedly seen storming a polling unit, firing tear gas, and snatching ballot boxes, actions he described as deeply disturbing.

“Wike and others are playing with fire because the more than 200 million patriotic Nigerians won’t take this nonsense anymore,” he said.
MEANWHILE, the Adamawa State House of Assembly has officially received the resignations of six members from the PDP.
Abubakar Abdullahi of Girei Constituency led the wave of exits, announcing his resignation on Monday, February 23, 2026.
He was followed by the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Buba Jidjiwa (Jada and Mbulo Constituency), Kefas Kalvin (Toungo Constituency), Bulus Geoffrey (Leko and Koma Constituency), Haruna Jilantikiri (Madagali Constituency), Kefas Emmanuel (Song Constituency), and Ahmed Jingi Bele (Maiha Constituency).

The resignations came amid widespread speculation that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri may be preparing to defect to the ruling APC.
While the departing lawmakers have not revealed which parties they intend to join, reports suggest that most of the 16 PDP members, now reduced to 10, along with key party executives and stakeholders, are expected to align with the governor in any potential move.
