The two emirs laying claims to the Kano emirate stool, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Aminu Ado Bayero, have announced the suspension of all Eid-el-Kabir durbar in the state.
Bayero and Sanusi II, responded to directives from the Kano State Police Command asking them to stop their planned durbar, Hawan Daushe, and Hawan Nassarawa processions, respectively.
Their decisions, announced in separate briefings, were said to have followed security concerns and directives from law enforcement agencies after the duo announced plans to hold parallel durbars.
However, speaking on behalf of Sanusi, Matawallen Kano, Aliyu Ibrahim, said the decision to suspend the activities was taken to avoid any breakdown of law and order and to preserve the peaceful atmosphere in the state during the Eid celebrations.
Similarly, Sarkin Dawaki Babba, Aminu Babba Dan’agundi, announced the suspension on behalf of Bayero.
He said the decision was taken in compliance with police directives issued to ensure peace and stability in Kano.
He said that they are law-abiding citizens and would fully comply with the directive of the security agencies in the interest of maintaining peace in the state.
