Seventeen-year-old Nancy Donald Ukaha is in dire straits over a life-threatening disease, Psamomatoide juvenile ossifying lipoma, which she has been nursing for the past 12 years.

Nancy, who hails from Benue State, but resides in Agege area of Lagos, has been diagnosed with the strange disease since she was five years and was only able to attend elementary education after dropping out of school at nursery one.

According to her father, Donald Ukaha, Nancy’s face and the left part of her eye and ear suddenly began to swell. “We knew her life was in danger when we noticed that the condition was worsening by the day.

“I took her to an eye clinic in Markurdi, Benue State, thinking it was a minor sickness but I was referred to Jos because the problem was beyond what they could handle and after several examinations, which cost us a lot of money. I was later told to take her to UCH in Ibadan.

The family is at present in a dilemma as they are at their wits end on how to raise the over N2 million for Nancy’s face reconstruction.

“We are appealing to Nigerians to help save her life, it’s difficult to raise the amount needed for her treatment. That is why we are appealing to everyone to come to our aid,” he said.

According to the medical report from the National Hospital, Abuja, Nancy’s condition was worsened on account of massive progressive facial swelling for 12 years.

It stated: “Following clinical evaluation and investigation, a diagnosis of Psamomatoid juvenile Ossifying Fibroma of the Maxilla was made. She was admitted on September 14, 2015 and underwent surgical operation.”

Anyone who wishes to assist Nancy can contact her parents on 08104418378 or 08111079301 or send donations to First City Monument Bank, Nancy Donald Ukaha, 2924298010.
