Capital TV has opened its new corporate headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The building, according to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder, Ndume Green, will house the TV station, Capital TV, and other media subsidiaries of the group, including a production company, LighBox Studios, a regional online community news network Ogonitv, a film and training innovation hub for journalists and content creators, Wakanda Media Foundation.

The sod cutting for the facility, which took place recently, was done by the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dumle Maol, with other top dignitaries.

Speaking during the event, Dumle expressed satisfaction with the level of high-tech broadcasting equipment available at the facility and commended the Green for establishing a media company of such international standard in Rivers State.

On his part, Green said: “We are setting forth a total disruption in the broadcasting space in Africa. Our plan is simple — use this platform to tell compelling narratives about the Africa rising story through the Nigerian lens, not forgetting its challenges from an objective perspective and provide a platform to amplify the works of content creators and journalists.

“We unveiled this brand as just an idea in January 2022 and here we are today with a massive complex with state-of-the-art equipment in less than two years of operation. This shows you what is coming ahead.”

Green is a 2018 finalist of the BBC Komla Dumor Award, winner of the 2018 Nelson Mandela Washington Fellow Nigeria Media Awards and a 2019 Fellow of the Tony Elumelu Foundation. His journalism in the last 15 years has been focused on telling the African story and providing a narrative shift against those who have for decades driven stereotypical narratives about the continent.
