Wealthy Nigerians have been urged to devote more of their resources to humanitarian causes and the empowerment of vulnerable people instead of excessive spending on cars and other material possessions.

The call was made by beneficiaries of the humanitarian and empowerment initiatives of Prophet Sam Olu Alo, founder of Adamimogo FM Nigeria, who praised his commitment to improving the lives of disadvantaged people.

The beneficiaries spoke at the conclusion of the annual prayer and fasting programme of the cleric’s church, tagged “Sure Mercy of David”, where hundreds of people received vocational training, financial assistance and other forms of support.
They urged affluent Nigerians to pool their resources to empower vulnerable farmers, traders and other disadvantaged members of society, citing Deuteronomy 15:11, which urges those with means to support the poor and needy.

One of the beneficiaries, Pastor Olusiji Otolorin, District Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Grace of Mercy, Ikotun District, thanked Olu Alo for presenting him with a car worth N15 million to mark his birthday.
Otolorin said the gift came as a surprise, describing the cleric as a generous man who consistently supports people and helps them fulfil their ambitions.

“It was a big surprise to me to have been showered with such favour by Prophet Olu Alo. He usually celebrates my birthday every year, but this year was exceptional. I never expected the huge surprise he gave me,” he said.
Another beneficiary, Ayowale, said Olu Alo had helped him acquire two machines he had long wanted but could not afford.
“It was by the grace of God that I got this. I have been in need of it for a long time. I tried several times to save through a cooperative, and one day I summoned the courage to tell Daddy that I needed it. He simply said he would do it.
“Today, he surprised me. He has bought me two machines,” he said.

A United Kingdom-based pastor, Dele Osunmakinde, also commended Olu Alo’s humanitarian work, describing the “Sure Mercy of David” programme as significant for combining spiritual activities with practical support for people in need.
“We appreciate God for His grace and love for Prophet Olu Alo. He has been kind to many people,” Osunmakinde said.
Hon. Ayodeji Ogunbusuyi, who is also personal assistant to Olu Alo and an Allied Peoples’ Movement candidate for Ido-Osi Constituency I in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, said the cleric’s interventions demonstrated how wealthy Nigerians could contribute to tackling social problems.

Ogunbusuyi said his own commitment to public service was rooted in a desire to help others.
“From my childhood, I have always wanted to assist people. I have always sought ways to help people using what God has given me to make society better,” he said.

He said the “Sure Mercy of David” programme had empowered unemployed people with vocational skills and provided financial assistance to enable beneficiaries to establish businesses.
“Prophet Olu Alo is indeed a man raised by God to change the narrative of Christianity. He is not just preaching the word; he is putting into action what he preaches,” Ogunbusuyi said.

He argued that government alone could not solve Nigeria’s unemployment and poverty challenges and urged individuals with means to complement public efforts.
“This is exactly the kind of gesture that is needed from those whom God has blessed. They have to use what God has given them to better the lot of others who need such help,” he said.
Ogunbusuyi also urged Nigerians to make responsible choices in the 2027 elections, warning voters against accepting inducements from politicians.

He advised voters to support candidates with proven records of integrity and service rather than those who seek office through financial inducement.

“If we want a better country, we should vote for people who have good conscience; people who have been tested in their private capacities and whom we know cannot fail,” he said.
“Many people run after money. When you give them money, they vote for you. But when you do that as an electorate, you are simply voting away your future.”

He urged voters not to sell their conscience, but to elect candidates they believe would genuinely serve the public interest.
Although the “Sure Mercy of David” programme has ended, beneficiaries said the assistance they received would remain a lasting testament to Olu Alo’s humanitarian efforts.
