CBN pledges to support Kano livestock farmers amid dairy union’s worry

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has pledged to extend the intervention to dairy and livestock manufacturers as party of Federal Government’s policy of diversifying the economy.

This was as Kano Dairy Livestock Husbandry Cooperative Union (KDLHCU) lamented increasing loss of produce due to inadequate system for dairy preservation.

Branch Controller, CBN Kano, Babangida Jino, made the commitment at the 2022 World Milk Day celebration at Imawa village in Kura Local Council of Kano State.

Represented by the Manager, Development Finance Department, Aminu Idris, the Controller noted that CBN was widening the opportunity to several sectors to drive economic viability of the country.

Jino reminded his audience of the CBN’s multi-billion financial facility, including the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP), tasked the dairy and livestock union on availing themselves of the various facilities at CBN to boost dairy production in Kano.

In his keynote, the Regional Manager, Outspan Nigeria Limited, Mr. Manish Khede, declared that Outspan, a subsidiary of Olam Farm, organised the event to support dairy farmers and children in recognition of the importance of milk to human beings.

Khede revealed that Outspan has continued to demonstrate its commitment to real growth in the local dairy sector through the implementation of several initiatives under its ‘Milk Mission’ programme.

Highlight of the event includes the distribution of instructional materials and dairy products to 60 pupils drawn from public primary schools in the community.
