The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has rescheduled its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings for September 19 and 20. It was earlier billed for September 23 and 24.

The bi-monthly gatherings were scheduled to run four days earlier amid high expectations of rate cuts, as the National Bureau of Statistics just put the yearly inflation to four-year low of 11.02 per cent.

While no reason was advanced for the development in the statement issued yesterday by the Director of Corporate Communications Department of the apex bank, Isaac Okorafor, a source, however, hinted that it was due to a “clash” of national assignments for CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.
