CBN trains SMEs, farmers on bank processes

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has trained over 1, 000 small and medium scale business operators and farmers on bank processes and transactions in Cross River State.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has trained over 1, 000 small and medium scale business operators and farmers on bank processes and transactions in Cross River State.

The participants were trained on payment system and cashless transaction, rights and duties of bank customers, guides to bank charges, CBN clean note policy and how to identify counterfeit money.  
 
Speaking at the CBN Fair for farmers and small business operators, themed: Promoting Financial Stability and Economic Development in Nigeria, in Calabar, CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, represented by Director, Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, advised participants to always interface with the apex bank on challenges encounter with commercial banks.

He said CBN had budgeted N66.10bn loan for farmers and others in Nigeria, as the Anchor Borrowers Scheme is extended to include cassava, cotton and soya beans farmers.  

He told participants to take advantage of the loan and ensure it was managed effectively to avoid being blacklisted.A breakdown of the loan showed N50bn would be for soya bean farmers, N9bn for cassava farmers and N7bn for cotton farmers, while N10m was for artisans, entrepreneurs and small business operators.
