Village head claims sighting abductors, abductees

Christian leaders in Southern Kaduna have declared a two-day fast, prayer over the abduction of 177 Christian worshippers in Kajuru Local Council last Sunday, as they urged the Kaduna State government and security agencies to intensify efforts in rescuing the victims from the hands of terrorists.

Specifically, the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) expressed anguish and condemnation over the recent kidnapping in the Kurmin Wali community.

In a statement issued yesterday, Chairman of SKCLA, Apostle Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, described the incident “as heart-rending, alarming, and unacceptable”, noting that it marks the first time in the history of the region that members of three different Christian denominations were abducted in a single day during church services.

MEANWHILE, Village Head of Kurmin Wali community, Ishaku Dan’azumi, has said the abductors were sighted yesterday morning moving with their captives around the Maro axis of the council area.

Dan’azumi told newsmen that the kidnappers and their victims were seen trekking on foot between Ungwan Gamu and Maro communities, although their exact destination could not be ascertained.

According to the traditional ruler, the development followed threats allegedly issued by the bandits on Wednesday evening after they noticed the presence of security operatives in the area.

He expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of the abducted worshippers and called on security agencies to intensify surveillance and rescue operations to ensure their safe return.
