Urge them to be visionary leaders, role models
The Diocese of Awori Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Ogun State, has called on fathers, as they celebrate Father’s Day, to specifically stand up and perform their God-given role by training their children in the way of the Lord.
Dean of the Cathedral, The Venerable Nelson Adewole, who spoke, yesterday, at the Cathedral Church of Saint James, Ogun State, during the Trinity Sunday and Fathers’ Day with the topic: “The Godly Father” to mark Father’s Day, urged fathers to train their children to be responsible and manly enough to love their spouses so that the gender-based violence will be a thing of the past.
ALSO, in commemoration of Father’s Day, the Mission Team of The Elevation Church, Maryland visited Computer Village, Ikeja to celebrate the fathers at work.
The Resident Pastor of the church in Maryland, Bola Adisa, who spoke at the event, said the Mission Team considered it necessary to visit the ever-busy computer village to celebrate the men who are always on the field fending for their families, with a view to appreciating them and also to encourage them to keep on doing what they are doing.
SIMILARLY, fathers across the nation have been urged to rise to the occasion of spiritual and moral leadership, both within their families and the broader society. The charge was made during a special Father’s Day service held yesterday at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, with the theme “The Visionary Father.”
In his sermon, Postulant Henry Ihegboro emphasised the crucial role of fathers in shaping not only their children’s futures but also the moral fabric of the society.
He further outlined the hallmarks of a visionary father, noting that such a man leads with purpose, instils discipline through love, and steers his household in alignment with godly principles.
Also, the Vicar of the church, Venerable (Dr) Stanley Ezechukwuma, while addressing the congregation, said: “There is a visionary father, and there is a visionless father. In the home of a visionary father, there is joy, growth, and harmony. But in the absence of vision, confusion and dysfunction prevail.”
He described a visionary father as one endowed with delight, insight, right sight, onsight, foresight, and oversight, qualities that make him a pillar in the home and a blessing to the community.
