
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has signed three-year partnership agreements with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) to upskill accounting and finance professionals in Nigeria.
CIMA announced the MoUs in a statement signed by its External Relations Manager, Cassius Mogoeng. CIMA, part of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants founded with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), said the partnerships will further strengthen and promote the profession across Nigeria.
The MoU with ICAN is a three-year dual-designation agreement to enable their respective members to take on dual membership and use both the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and Chartered Accountant (CA), Nigeria designations.
Through these partnerships, CIMA hopes to extend its collaborations with ICAN and ANAN on thought leadership and research initiatives, member events, and joint promotion of their qualifications and resources in Nigeria.

ICAN President, Mr. Mallam Tijjani Musa Isa, said: “The current business environment brings unique challenges that require new ways of working and thinking. This partnership underscores our commitment to develop and support the accounting and finance professionals that can successfully operate in the current and future business contexts.” Prof. Ahmed Modu Kumshe, ICAN Chief Executive, said: “ICAN’s collaboration with CIMA will bring numerous opportunities for finance professionals in Nigeria.”
Similarly, the President of ANAN, Dr. James Neminebor, expressed satisfaction with the MoU. “ANAN is thrilled to enter into an agreement with CIMA. This partnership complements our mission to advance the finance and accounting profession in Nigeria that is globally relevant, virtuous, well-rounded, profound in knowledge, and skilful in practice.”
