The Oyo State Government has disbursed ₦200 million as compensation to another batch of property owners affected by construction on the first segment of the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project.
Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on Thursday at the Ministry of Lands. He said the latest disbursement marks the fourth batch of payments made by the state government.
Akin-Funmilayo disclosed that 193 out of 298 affected property owners have now been compensated. He urged the remaining 105 to come forward for screening so they could also receive payment.
“This is the fourth time we are paying compensation to property owners on the first segment of the Ibadan Circular Road,” he said.
“We have already paid 193 property owners. The remaining 105 are expected to come for screening so that payment can be effected. We still have money set aside for this compensation and are ready to pay once the screening is completed.”
The commissioner emphasized that the screening process was necessary to ensure that only rightful beneficiaries receive compensation.
He added that the state government has so far disbursed ₦780 million out of the ₦980 million earmarked for compensation to affected property owners.
One of the beneficiaries, Prophetess Funmi Olawale, expressed gratitude to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and the state government for fulfilling their commitment to property owners.
The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Audu Ademola Hakim, and other top government officials.
