Cleric urges couples to live exemplary lives to dissuade gay marriage
An Anglican cleric, Rev. Ifeanyi Okonkwo, on Sunday, urged Christian couples to live exemplary lives in order to dissuade people from seeing gay marriage as an option.
Okonkwo said this while delivering a homily titled: “The Purpose for Marriage by God’’, at Anglican Church of Ascension, Achara-Layout, Enugu State.
He said that God did not have gay marriage or marriage of same-sex in his plan of creation in the Garden of Eden.
“Gay marriage is not in the plan of God during creation since he charged man (mankind) to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and take dominion of it.
“So, God want a man and a woman to live as couple to be able to give themselves companionship as well as procreate to fill the earth.
“It then means that couples must strive through commitment and prayers to live exemplary lives so that the ungodly issue of gay or same-sex marriage would not arise.
“And with vast majority of couples living rightly, we would dissuade and deter those that have tendency to believe in gay and same-sex marriage,’’ he said.
The cleric advised couples to have common vision and purpose for their families and learn to carry out their plans in oneness.
“Human beings need to bring back the dominion that was originally installed on them by God through bringing up godly children that would make the World a better and peaceful place.
“So, our marriages must be built up physically, emotionally, spiritually and eternally,’’ he added.
