General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adejare Adeboye, has called on the government to carry out its obligations to the citizenry by providing basic social and economic amenities.

Speaking through the Special Assistant to the General Overseer (RCCG), Admin and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola at the monthly thanksgiving service at the RCCG, Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Adeboye who ministered on the topic: “War Against Anti-Marital Forces” likened the relationship between the government and the citizens to that of a husband and the wife.

This is coming as the Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev Nicholas Okoh, has called on Nigerians to desist from promoting divisive tendencies and work towards the peace and unity of the country.

Speaking at the church service to round off the third session of the Ninth Synod of the Diocese of Abuja, Okoh stressed the need for Nigerians to live together in harmony and respect the rights, dignity and progress of other people.

Also, Nigerians have been tasked to develop a forgiving spirit as the fastest way of getting their prayers answered by God and move the
nation forward.

The Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of Enugu and Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev Emmanuel Chukwuma gave the advice during the dedication of ultra modern church building, Bethel Anglican Church at Ishi Ozalla in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State.

Adeboye while reminding the government of its responsibility to the citizens which can only be actualized by perfect love just as an average husband is expected to love the wife and care for her said:
“When we look at where we are today in the nation, we would discover a lot of lapses in those things the government is expected to do to please the common man.

The Primate regretted that some Nigerian exploit the nation’s fault lines of religious, political or ethnic point of views so that they would occupy the top and the rest will be at the base.

He said, “ That type of situation will not promote peace and unity, we need to live in harmony together and respect the rights, dignity and progress of other people. We should not promote ourselves over and above others, for that type of thing can never promote peace.
